The global awards programme was launched in 2003 and is designed to publicly recognise customer successes in leveraging the Metastorm software to achieve measurable return on investment and strategic advantage.

For 2009, entries were judged based on excellence demonstrated in all three categories of the Metastorm Enterprise portfolio for Highest Return on Investment, Greatest Strategic Advantage, and Most Mission Critical Use. Nominations for the awards were received from Metastorm’s customer base, employees and partners.

Metastorm would like to congratulate the following organisations as the recipients of this year’s awards:

- Most Mission Critical Use of Metastorm Integration Manager - PSCU Financial Services. As America's largest Credit Union Services Organisation, PSCU Financial Services used Metastorm Integration Manager to establish an enterprise-wide Data Gateway Hub based on a service oriented architecture and web services. The first application for the new hub involved data transmission of over one million messages a day with First Data Corp., the world’s largest credit card services company. PSCU Financial Services’ Data Gateway Hub is configured for high availability with complete hot failover capabilities between the cooperative’s data centers. If a response to a credit card transaction is not received, for example, the system will automatically execute backup actions. Additional processes will be added to the hub this year and in 2010 the cooperative expects it to process 100 million transactions a month.

- Most Mission Critical Use of Metastorm ProVision® – Salt River Project (SRP). One of Arizona's largest utilities, Salt River Project uses Metastorm ProVision as an integral part of its Customer Services group to create vision models that give management insight and direction before taking on an effort. Problem models are used to analyse safety incidents to identify ways to keep field personnel safe, as well as a base tool for all teams to identify problems. Metastorm ProVision software has given SRP a way to discern where its efforts will produce the most value, leverage its most important asset – the people – and provide outstanding products and services for customers. In addition, the software is helping SRP plan for technology upgrades and implement strategic process changes as it undertakes smart meter and smart grid initiatives to ensure it remains on the leading edge of its industry.

- Most Mission Critical Use of Metastorm BPM® – Aegis Media. The worldwide media communications group, Aegis Media, has used Metastorm BPM as a platform for developing CommUnity which has enabled it to manage and report on the media planning and buying process for the entire value chain of its customer’s day to day operations in more than 40 countries. The implementation was completed by Metastorm partner, arvato systems Bertelsmann, and has been critical to Aegis Media’s ability to meet service level agreements and collaborate more effectively with its customers.

Highest Return on Investment from Metastorm Software - Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. A global leader in pharmaceuticals, consumer health care products, and animal health care products, Wyeth developed a sophisticated process management solution called C-TRAX based on the Metastorm BPM suite to manage regulatory change control. Wyeth is the only company in its industry that has automated global change control on this level, and the successful management of this process is critical to the release of products to global markets. The system supports approximately fifteen thousand change requests per year and is projected to deliver an annual return on investment of 209% with a payback period of 6 months. The C-TRAX solution is expected to save the company millions of dollars in compliance-related fees.

Greatest Strategic Advantage from Metastorm Software – Rompetrol. The retail arm of the Rompetrol Group in Romania, Rompetrol Downstream, manages a network of approximately 350 gas stations at a national level. The company uses Metastorm ProVision for enterprise architecture, business process analysis, and modelling collaboration and uses Metastorm BPM for process deployment, execution, and monitoring. The combination of the two Metastorm applications provides Rompetrol stakeholders traceability from strategy to results, with a high degree of control over its most sensitive and critical business processes. Metastorm software ties together various Rompetrol systems with the human-centric tasks they support. Use of the software has so far resulted in a decrease of human errors by 100%, reduction in losses to less than 1% per month through sales order process automation, and improved control over fuel delivery processes with a 70% reduction in manual work. The implementation was completed by Metastorm partner, BPM Wave.
